The pomodoro method splits work into short, timed rounds: focus for 25 minutes, stop for 5, and take a longer break after the fourth round. This timer runs those rounds for you. Start it, leave the tab open, and the alarm says when to stop. The tab title keeps the countdown visible while you work in another window. Every length is editable, so a 50/10 rhythm or a quick 15-minute round works just as well. The counter shows how many focus sessions you have finished today. Nothing is uploaded and no account is needed.

How to use

  1. Press Start. The first 25-minute focus round begins and the tab title counts down.
  2. Work until the alarm, take the break it announces, and let the next round begin.
  3. Change any length in the fields below if 25/5/15 is not your rhythm.
  4. Use Skip to move on early, Reset to restart the phase, and fullscreen for a spare screen.

What it handles

  • Every length is editable: focus 1 to 180 minutes, short break 1 to 60, long break 1 to 120, and 2 to 12 sessions before the long break. A value outside those ranges snaps to the nearest one that works.
  • The countdown runs against a fixed end time on a clock that does not pause when the tab is hidden, so it stays right in a background tab. Browsers throttle hidden tabs, so the alarm itself can be up to a minute late until you come back.
  • Editing a length mid-round can only shorten the round you are in; a paused timer takes the new length in full.
  • Skip moves on without counting the session, so skipping focus never pulls the long break forward.
  • The alarm is generated with Web Audio rather than played from a sound file, so nothing is downloaded and it works offline.

FAQ

What is the 25/5 pomodoro rhythm?

One focus round of 25 minutes, then a 5-minute break, four times over, with a longer break of about 15 minutes after the fourth round. The short rounds are easy to start and short enough to hold attention. The four defaults are a starting point rather than a rule, and every one of them is editable here.

Does the timer keep running when I switch tabs?

Yes. Each phase gets an end time on a clock that keeps running while the tab is hidden, so the countdown is correct the moment you come back, however long you were away. Browsers do slow the check down in a hidden tab, so the alarm can arrive up to a minute late; returning to the page updates everything at once.

Why can I not hear the alarm?

Browsers refuse to play sound on a page nobody has interacted with. Pressing Start counts as that, so the alarm works from the first round. If it stays silent, press the Test the alarm button once, check that the alarm toggle is on, and raise the volume slider.

Where are my lengths and my session count kept?

In this browser only, under keys that start with aih. Nothing is sent anywhere and there is no account. The lengths also go into the address bar, so a link carries your setup to another device or another person. The count is for the current day and starts again after midnight, local time.

Does it work without a connection?

Yes, once the page has loaded. The countdown, the alarm and the count all run from the script already in the page, and the alarm is generated rather than downloaded. You can switch off Wi-Fi and finish the day. Reloading while offline works only if your browser has cached the page.
