Other versions

Half an hour is a roast in the oven, a run, a focus block, a nap that leaves you awake, or the slot a meeting is meant to fit into. Press Start and the page counts down from 30:00 without asking for anything else. Because half an hour is long enough to walk away, the alarm can be set to repeat until you come back and stop it. The tab title carries the time left, and fullscreen turns a spare screen or a television into a clock the whole room can read.

How to use

  1. Turn on Repeat if you plan to leave the room.
  2. Press Start for the half hour.
  3. Press Stop alarm when you come back, then Reset for the next round.

What it handles

  • Repeat rings the alarm again every couple of seconds until it is stopped, which a single beep cannot do from another room.
  • Your sound, volume and repeat choice are kept on this device, so the next half hour starts the way the last one did.
  • The countdown survives a long spell in a background tab, because it is worked out from the clock.

FAQ

Can I run two timers at once?

One per tab. Open the page in a second tab and set a different length there, and both count down independently, each with its own tab title. They share the saved sound and volume, since those belong to the browser rather than to a tab. Two alarms that go off together will simply play at the same time.

Is the alarm loud enough from the next room?

That depends on your device, but the beep is the one to pick: it is a short, high tone that carries better than the chime or the bell. Turn the volume slider up and turn Repeat on, and test it with the Test sound button before you start, so you are not guessing while the food is in the oven.

Does the page remember my settings?

The alarm sound, the volume and the repeat switch are saved in this browser on this device, and they come back the next time you open any timer page here. Nothing is tied to an account, because there are no accounts. Clearing site data in your browser removes them and the page returns to its defaults.
