Five minutes covers a soft-boiled egg, a short break, a warm-up, a round of stretching or the pause a teacher gives before the next task. Press Start and the page counts down from 05:00, showing the time left in the tab title so you can go back to what you were doing. At zero it plays the alarm you picked, at the volume you set. Change the fields at any time and the page turns into a timer for that length instead. Nothing leaves your browser.
How to use
- Press Start to begin the five minutes.
- Watch the tab title if you switch to another tab.
- Press Pause to hold the count, or Reset to go back to 05:00.
What it handles
- Opens at 05:00, so nothing has to be typed before the first press.
- The tab title shows the remaining time, which is enough to keep an eye on a break.
- Pause holds the exact remaining time, so a phone call does not cost you the round.
FAQ
Can I change it to a different length?
Yes. Type into the hours, minutes and seconds fields, or use one of the presets, and the page becomes a timer for that length. The change goes into the address as well, so the link you copy opens the same timer somewhere else. Reload the page without the link and it is back to five minutes.
Will it ring if my phone screen is off?
Probably not. A phone that has locked itself usually stops the page, and the alarm then arrives when you unlock it. While the timer runs the page asks to keep the screen awake, which helps on most phones, and fullscreen makes that request stronger. For five minutes away from the phone, a system alarm is the safer choice.
Does it need an internet connection?
Only to load the page. After that the countdown and the alarm are both produced by the script already in the page, so a dropped connection changes nothing. Your alarm sound, volume and repeat setting stay in this browser on this device; they are never uploaded, and clearing your browser data removes them.
