PNG and JPG to SVG

Trace logos and icons into editable SVG paths, locally in your browser.

Files stay on your device. Nothing is uploaded.

One PNG or JPG · up to 15 MB / 25 MP · trace up to 1,200 px

Best for flat logos and icons. Photos, gradients, soft transparency and small text may lose detail. Noise values count contour nodes, not pixels.

Compare the trace

Choose an image to make a vector preview.

A small logo can look fine on a screen and turn into visible squares when enlarged. This image vectorizer traces the edges of a PNG or JPG and creates an SVG made of paths, rather than hiding the original bitmap inside a different file extension. It is intended for flat logos, icons and simple drawings. Choose a color or black-and-white trace, adjust the amount of detail, and compare the result before downloading. Your image stays in this browser; no account or upload is needed.

How to use

  1. Choose one PNG or JPG file, up to 15 MB and 25 megapixels.
  2. Select color or black-and-white mode, then adjust palette size, detail and noise filtering.
  3. Run the trace. Large inputs are reduced to a maximum of 1,200 pixels on the longest side.
  4. Compare the original with the SVG at the same zoom, then download vector.svg.

What it handles

  • Real SVG paths that can be scaled and edited in a vector editor; no embedded raster image.
  • Two to thirty-two palette colors in color mode, plus a fixed black-and-white mode.
  • Three detail levels and optional removal of short contours to reduce small specks.
  • Side-by-side previews, shared zoom, path count and output size for checking the result.
  • Transparent pixels below 50% alpha are omitted; softer transparency is simplified to hard edges.
  • Local worker processing with a two-minute limit and cancellation when you clear or change input.

FAQ

Is changing a PNG file extension to SVG enough?

No. Renaming a file does not turn its pixels into curves. This tool follows image boundaries and writes vector paths into an SVG document. Open the download in a vector editor to inspect those paths. Small details and letter shapes may still need manual adjustment.

Will a photograph become a perfect vector copy?

No. Photographs contain gradients, textures and many subtle colors. Tracing reduces them to colored shapes, so the result can look posterized and may be larger than the source. Flat icons and high-contrast logos are better starting points. Keep your original photograph for normal image use.

Why did a small detail or a transparent edge change?

Tracing is an approximation. Noise filtering removes short contours, fewer palette colors merge nearby shades, and large images are resized before processing. Soft alpha is thresholded rather than preserved exactly. Increase detail or disable noise filtering, and inspect fine lettering and holes before using the result.

Are the image or resulting SVG sent anywhere?

The input is decoded and traced in a worker inside your browser. Neither image data nor the generated paths are uploaded or saved in the page address. Clear releases the current previews and cancels work. Download the SVG yourself if you want to keep it after leaving.
