A screen filled with #0000ff. On a display, a solid blue field lights only the blue subpixels, so a pixel that has failed on that channel shows as a dark dot that white and grey test screens will not reveal. Blue is also the older keying colour, still chosen when the subject wears green or the scene is meant to look like night. Away from testing, a dimmed blue makes a quiet background for a webcam, a photo backdrop or a stage, and the brightness slider takes it down to a soft wash.
How to use
- Open the page; the screen is already blue.
- Type a lighter or darker blue in the hex field if you need a specific shade.
- Press Go fullscreen, then look across the panel or film against it. Press Esc to come back.

FAQ
Is this the Windows blue screen of death?
No. This is a page that paints the screen blue on request; it reports nothing and fixes nothing. The Windows stop screen is a system error message with text and a code on it. If you are looking at that, note the code before restarting, because it names the driver or hardware involved.
Why does blue look darker than the other colors?
Your eye is far less sensitive to blue than to green: in the standard luminance formula blue contributes about seven percent of perceived brightness against green's seventy-two. A full blue screen therefore looks dim even though the blue subpixels are at maximum, which is normal and not a panel fault.
Does a blue screen affect sleep?
Bright blue light in the evening can delay the body clock, which is why phones ship a night mode that warms the display. If you are using this screen late, drop the brightness or choose a warmer colour such as orange or red. There is no need to switch the device off entirely.
