A screen filled with #ffc0cb, a pale pink that is mostly white with the green and blue channels pulled back. Light of this colour is kind to skin, which is why it turns up in beauty lighting and in photo booths: a phone held just off camera lifts a face without the hard edge of a white light. It also makes a clean, cheerful background for photographing small objects. If you want something louder, type #ff69b4 for hot pink or #ff007f for a strong rose; both fill the screen exactly as entered.

How to use

Why is pink light used for portraits?

A slight warm-pink cast sits close to healthy skin tone, so it evens out blotchiness and looks natural on camera, while a cold light exaggerates every red patch. Keep it subtle: a strong pink fills the whole frame with colour and forces the camera's white balance to fight it.

What is the difference between pink and magenta?

Magenta is red and blue at full power, #ff00ff, and is one of the printing primaries. Pink is that same mixture lightened towards white, which is why #ffc0cb has a high value on every channel. Both are shown here; type the hex code of whichever one you need.

Can I use this screen for a photo backdrop?

For an object smaller than the display, yes. Fill the screen, switch the controls off and place the object close so the background stays out of focus. Watch for reflections: a glossy panel bounces the room back into the shot, so shoot slightly off axis or dim the lights.
